Montclair
New Jersey, located 12 miles west of the Lincoln Tunnel,
is a unique suburban town with a distinctive urban feeling.
Tree-lined streets and architecturally interesting houses
characterize this pedestrian-friendly town of almost
40,000. Although only 6 square miles, Montclair has
cultural, dining, entertainment and recreational opportunities
all within its boundaries.
Montclair public schools are unique. Since the 1970's,
this district has operated under the magnet school concept;
parents are offered school choice. For instance, Edgemont
is the only public Montessori elementary school in the
state; Rand school is the Family and Environmental Magnet.
In 2008, close to 90 percent of Montclair High School
seniors went on to college
